Background:
Mark Kenison founded Turning Point Benefits Group in 2008 with a
goal of providing quality insurance benefits to individuals, families and
groups in North Carolina & South Carolina. Mark's agency works with
many large insurance companies to custom design health insurance
plans that are affordable and full of benefits. Blue Cross Blue Shield of
North Carolina, Blue Cross Blue Shield of South Carolina, Aetna,
Humana, United Healthcare, and Coventy Wellpath are just some of the
carriers that Turning Point Benefits Group works with.
Mark has been working in the financial services industry since 1995. He has a Bachelors
degree in finance from the University of Utah. He is a Certfiied Financial Planner
professional, and a Chartered Life Underwriter. He spent over 10 years working as a
financial advisor for Fidelity investments, after which he started his own financial planning
firm Turning Point Financial, Inc., a NC State Registered Investment Advisory Firm. Mark
has been helping people plan for and successfully retire since 1995. He has helped
literally hundreds of people meet the rising costs of healthcare during retirement.
Healthcare costs have become a very large part of a person's financial picture and plan.
Many people already realize that already, but there are still so many families that have no
health insurance. Today it is estimated that over 147 million Americans have no health
insurance. One reason for that is because it has become too expensive for many
families. In many cases, the monthly cost of health insurance is more than a family's
house payment or rent. It has become on of the single most expensive things that a
many family's pays for each month. And to make things worse, if a person has some
history of health problems, or is on a particular mediation that the insurance companies
don't like, it can be impossible to get coverage. In these situations, many families have
decided to just go without coverage completely.
Mark decided that there had to be a way to help these kinds of families get affordable
coverage, and protect them from potential financial disaster. The majority of personal
bankruptcy filings today cite unpaid medical bills as a leading cause for the bankruptcy
filing. Dreams of retirement are disappearing as families as crushed beneath the burden
of unpaid medical bills. For those who find it difficult to obtain affordable coverage, we
recommend a limited benefit medical insurance plan. While these plan benefits are
limited, they are better than having nothing at all. And most importantly, they are very
affordable on a monthly basis.

Health insurance is a major part of anyone's financial plan, and it can be difficult for many
people to obtain it. Not having health insurance presents a major financial risk to a family.
A recent survey found that over half of personal bankruptcies filed cited unpaid medical
bills as a major contributing factor in the bankruptcy. As a Certified Financial Planner
professional, Mark has a deep understanding of how low cost health insurance fits into a
family's overall financial plan. Obtaining health insurance in North Carolina and South
Carolina is becoming increasingly difficult for many people. If someone has had a heart
attack, has a stint, had a stroke, cancer or various mental disorders, it can be very difficult
to get low cost health insurance outside of a group plan. Turning Point Benefits Group can
help individuals with pre-existing conditions get credible coverage at affordable rates.
